The Sunshine state is known as one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the nation, so Thomas’ ranking in the state is worth noting. Though being ranked 59 overall may not jump off the page, keep in mind that talent in the state of Florida is incredibly deep. There’s a good chance that if a recruit is in the top 50-60 players from Florida, he’d be a top 10-20 player in many other states.
This is also a big detail to focus on considering the fact that Muschamp obviously has some big ties to the state of Florida from his time as head coach of the Gators. Pipelines and connections are vital in recruiting, so if Muschamp can continue to take advantage of his time spent down in Florida, South Carolina is bound to land a few more big-time recruits.
Starting strong is also important, especially for a new coach, and it’s worth noting that the Gamecocks’ class is ranked No. 33 nationally.
