UPDATE: Nkemdiche has declared for the NFL Draft, per multiple outlets.

According to Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit, an affiliate of the Scout.com network, Rebels star defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche won’t play in the team’s upcoming 2016 Sugar Bowl matchup with Oklahoma State.

Roughly a week ago, Nkemdiche fell out of a window while reportedly fleeing his hotel room. Later reports indicated that marijuana was found in the room. Nkemdiche, a 6’4,” 296-pound tackle, was treated for minor injuries, including scrapes/scratches, at an Atlanta-area hospital, according to reports.

Nkemdiche, a potential top-10 pick in the NFL Draft, issued a statement, apologizing for the “lapse in judgment.” He also cleared the air in regard to a bit of misinformation. Fox Sports reported that he had used synthetic drugs prior to his fall. According to Nkemdiche, that wasn’t the case.

However, he is facing possession charges.

The following details were made public this past Sunday by Zach Klein of WSBTV in Atlanta (ABC).

Police details on Robert Nkemdiche incident:
At approximately 2318 hours, Zone Two units responded to a person injured call where a male had fallen from a hotel room window. Upon arrival, the victim was conscious and breathing. He was transported to Grady Memorial and was in stable condition. Inside the hotel room, units located a small amount of suspected marijuana. The window was also broken out. It appears that the victim broke the window and then walked approximately 15 feet and climbed over a wall and fell approximately 15 feet. GI Squad and the Narcotics Unit responded to the scene along with the Crime Scene Unit.

Nkemdiche finished the 2015 season with 29 tackles. He is said to be preparing for the NFL Draft.
