Wright (6-foot-3, 205 lbs.) was a two-star prospect coming out of the 2014 recruiting class, but was the No. 1-ranked player from the state of Alaska. He played for North Pole High School and, per 247Sports, did not receive an offer outside of Rice.
In three games this season (he did not play in Weeks 4 and 5 against Baylor and Western Kentucky), Wright caught six passes for 49 yards with a long of 14. Redshirt freshman Parker Smith is likely to step in and fill is role in the rotation, according to the team’s two-deep roster (via OurLads.com).
