Ex-Oklahoma running back Keith Ford is weighing all options about a possible new landing spot to transfer to, but when talking to GigEm247.com, Ford admits he is leaning toward transferring to Texas A&M.
More from Taylor Hamm at GigEm247.com:
“Utah has called me, Louisville is showing a lot of interest and so has U of [Houston]. Texas A&M has also reached out to me. I don’t want to leave the state of Texas so I’m kind of leaning towards Texas A&M. It’s not official yet because I still need to talk with the coaches but I am leaning towards Texas A&M.”
Ford recently had a conversation with Kevin Sumlin which reportedly went very well.
“Coach Sumlin wants to schedule a time where I can come up there and meet with him,” he said … Before anything, he wants to get to know me first. As a head coach to tell me that, it was great to hear.”
As you can see, the former five-star recruit has plenty of suitors, but it just may come down to location. This may become official soon enough.
With Ford getting hurt last year while also getting suspended, and seeing Samaje Perine blow up in his stead, Ford saw the writing on the wall. In his interview with GigEm247.com, Ford stated that the hire of running backs coach Jay Boulware impacted his decision to transfer the most, since he was tight with ex-Sooners running backs coach Cale Gundy.
Ford is coming off a season in which he ran for 392 yards and five touchdowns on 71 carries in eight games played.
