According to a report by MLive’s Nick Baumgardner, Michigan wide receiver Dennis Norfleet is no longer listed on the Wolverines’ roster at MGoBlue.com. While this is not a definitive declaration of his status for the coming year, it could perhaps be an omen of things to come.
Norfleet was originally suspended in May after initial erroneous reports had him being kicked off the team for academic issues. With Tuskegee (a Division II school from Alabama) receiving a release from Michigan for Norfleet’s services last week, his omission from the updated roster makes a whole lot of sense.
Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh originally had a plan in place for Norfleet to work his way back on to the team and said so last week.
“A plan was put in place, I’ve had conversations with him over the summer,” Harbaugh said last week (via Baumgardner of Mlive.com). “And if (things have) changed, you’d have to talk to Dennis.
The 5’7” senior wide receiver/running back/defensive back is Michigan’s all-time leader in kick returns and kick return yards. For his career, he has recorded 21 receptions for 157 receiving yards, while also rushing for 130 yards on 15 carries.
