Post-Spring Power Rankings: MWC West Division

December 23, 2014: San Diego State Aztecs running back Donnel Pumphrey (19) on a 2nd half run at the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium.

Spring practice has run its course, and now we’re looking the infamous “dead period” of college football straight in its eye. From here until the latter parts of July, the only thing we can talk about are the “what-ifs” of this upcoming season, with of course the dreaded (and inevitable) list of transfers and run-ins with the law.

You know what that means? Yeah, you do: more preseason rankings. They’re coming in hot, and I’ve already participated quite a bit—judge me as you will.

With several conferences already taken care of, I’m switching my attention over to the Mountain West Conference, where one team stands head and shoulders above all the rest of its competition: Boise State. The Broncos, who are coming off their sixth 12-plus-win season since 2006, could make some serious noise as an undefeated Group of Five program making a bid for the playoffs.

From here, I’ll be going through the rest of the conferences to determine the early favorite for the 2015 season, using my post-spring Top 25 rankings as a guide.

Let’s get to it; here are my post-spring MWC West division rankings. (You can check out my Mountain rankings here.)
