The Ole Miss women’s basketball program picked up a significant commitment Tuesday when class of 2016 four-star forward Kaitlyn Rodgers made a pledge to play for Matt Insell and the Rebels. She chose the Rebels over strong interest from Southern Mississippi, as Dennis Victory of AL.com reports.

“I like the feel, I like the environment and I love the people,” Rodgers said (per Victory of AL.com). “I feel like it’s the best fit for me. They stayed on me and never stopped recruiting me.”
Rodgers, a 6’2” forward from Birmingham, Alabama (Wenonah High School), is rated as a four-star prospect according to ESPN. The site ranks her as the No. 92 prospect in the 2016 class and the 19th best forward.
Some local schools (Alabama and Auburn) backed away from her because of perceived grade issues, but Al.com reports she has the grades to qualify now.
ESPN says Rodgers is a nice, athletic face-up forward with above-average shooting skills. She is also a great defensive player, too. Rodgers eared first-team Super-State in 2015 as well as honorable mention 5A All-State in 2013, 2014.
