During the investigation, an officer discovered “approximately (seven) rolled marijuana cigarettes, rolled in Cigarillo Blunt papers” in Nkemdiche’s Grand Hyatt Atlanta hotel room, according to the report. The room is also described as being in “complete disarray.”
Authorities believe that Nkemdiche, a 6-foot-4, 296-pound defensive tackle, broke out the double-paned window of his fourth-floor hotel room and somehow got onto a ledge. He then fell approximately 15 feet, suffering minor injuries.
Nkemdiche was found conscious and breathing, and then was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
“Is it undetermined why or how Mr. Nkemdiche made it over the two ledges onto the ground,” police said. “Neither Mr. Nkemdiche nor his associates would provide this information.”
In three seasons with Ole Miss, Nkemdiche gathered 81 total tackles (16.0 for loss), 6.0 sacks, and added a 31-yard touchdown reception to his line. Nkemdiche, a junior, is considered to be a top prospect for the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft; he’s projected to be taken somewhere between the No. 1 and 10 picks.
