Ford rushed for 392 yards and 5 touchdowns last season as a sophomore. He was expected to compete with Joe Mixon and Alex Ross for the backup role behind Samaje Perine this season.
Head coach Bob Stoops did not list any other reasons for the suspension, and the school is bound by student-athlete privacy. Oklahoma will open the season against Akron in September, so the issues could very well be resolved by the first game and allow Ford to participate.
