FARMINGTON, Mich – Khalid Kareem, 4-star strong-side defensive end from Farmington Hills Harrison High School, has committed to Notre Dame
Kareem posted his commitment announcement on Twitter, stating that as a student athlete who wants to enroll early in college, the combination of great football and great academics was most important to him and his family. He went on to say that he’s 100-percent committed to Notre Dame:

The last part of his statement is important to know—the part about being 100-percent committed—because Kareem has decommitted from a school in the past. In fact, he decommitted from one of the best college football schools in the country, Alabama, back earlier this month. He officially visited Notre Dame on October 17th, though, for the Fighting Irish’s 41-31 win over rival USC, and according to his 247Sports timeline head coach Brian Kelly and defensive line coach Keith Gilmore visited him just a few days later.
Notre Dame obviously put the full-court press on for Kareem’s commitment, and it paid off in a big way for the Fighting Irish.
Kelly’s 2016 class now features 17 commitments and Kereem is without a doubt one of the more notable recruits in the bunch. According to 247sports, he’s the No. 8 strong-side defensive end in the 2016 class, and No. 176 overall recruit in the country.
