The No. 1-ranked quarterback for the recruiting class of 2016 is going to be a Georgia Bulldog.

Lake Stevens High School (Lake Stevens, WA) pro-style quarterback Jacob Eason announced Tuesday morning that he will indeed stay with Georgia after reconsidering due to the coaching changes in Athens. According to Eric Wilkinson of King 5 News — a local affiliate — Eason will stick with the Bulldogs under new head coach Kirby Smart.

Eason (6-foot-5, 217 lbs.) is a consensus five-star prospect and ranks as the No. 4 overall player from his class, per 247Sports. During his senior season, Eason completed 235-of-338 (69.5 percent) pass attempts for 3,585 yards, 43 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also added four more scores on the ground.

Those numbers earned him rights to the Gatorade National Player of the Year award.

Eason was choosing between Georgia and Florida as his final two candidates, but also had offers from Alabama, Florida State, Miami (FL), Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, USC, and many others.

Smart, who took over for longtime head coach Mark Richt after being fired two weeks ago, currently has 14 hard commits for the class of 2016, which ranks 11th nationally and 6th in the SEC. He is still working on landing his first commitment since accepting the job.

Eason initially committed to Georgia on July 19 of 2014.
