NIT Will Feature Experimental Rules

The NCAA will experiment with a 30-second shot clock and an expanded restricted arc for this year’s NIT, the NCAA announced Friday.

The restricted-area arc will expand from three to four feet with both rules in effect for all 31 games in the tournament. The shot clock was implemented uniformly across college basketball in 1993 and has remained at 35 seconds since then.

Stay tuned to Today’s U for full postseason coverage and further updates on the takeaways and potential ramifications of the rule changes.
