Thornton (6-foot-1, 218 lbs.), who has 2,369 yards and 16 touchdowns throughout his career, led the team in carries (164), yards (907), and scores (9) in 2014. According to OurLads.com, he was the projected starting running back for Week 1.
Shad Thornton is currently 9th all-time in rushing yards at NC State with 2,369. If he repeated last season's total (907), he'd finish 4th.

Luckily for NC State, the Wolfpack open against Troy before hosting FCS Eastern Kentucky in Week 2 and shouldn’t have to worry about a lack of production from the backfield.
