After today’s stunning news that Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill had to step down due to health concerns over some recent seizures he suffered, the Golden Gopher community has been left in a state of shock.
However, Kill has himself a fine assistant in Tracy Claeys. And Claeys will want to keep the train moving, as he definitely wants the interim tag to be short lived.
Minnesota’s football Twitter page had this interesting nugget today:
"I want to be the next head football coach, that's all there is to it." Claeys, on the future for the #Gophers.

If you want an extension of Kill, you’ll get that with Claeys. Clays had worked with Kill for 21 years. He was the defensive coordinator of the Golden Gophers since 2010.
So, if Minnesota wants some stability and continuity, it likely couldn’t go wrong by making Claeys their long-term coach.
The Golden Gophers (4-3, 1-2) will be gearing up for a big game this Saturday, as they host the No. 15-ranked Michigan Wolverines.
