If Wednesday was any indication of Jim McElwain’s future as the head coach of the University of Florida, Gator Nation is in good hands.
Florida’s newly minted coach inherited a barren recruiting class that was ranked well outside the top 50 heading into National Signing Day. By Wednesday afternoon, the Gators vaulted into the top-25, with ESPN putting the Gators at No. 20.
Though the Gators missed out on a few high-profile recruits thanks to Will Muschamp and the Auburn Tigers, the overall class looks much more impressive even without CeCe Jefferson’s National Letter of Intent. The five-star defensive end has been the subject of the hour today, with rumors that his father is the one holding up the process of making the lifelong Gator fan the crowned jewel of this 2015 recruiting class.
While McElwain and his staff have a long journey ahead in order to restore this program to its glory days, their first recruiting class certainly turned out a lot better than expected. Let’s take a look at the top-five impact recruits UF managed to reel in on National Signing Day.
