Maquedius Bain Leaving LSU

Just days after being reinstated to the team, defensive lineman Maquedius Bain is now leaving the LSU program, as he announced on his Twitter page on Monday.

He also announced via Twitter that he will be attending Pearl River Community College in Mississippi.

If you recall, Bain was reinstated along with quarterback Anthony Jennings and defensive back Dwayne Thomas on Friday after East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore III announced he would not press charges against them for their roles in an alleged burglary for which they were arrested for in June. They were arrested for suspicion of unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling

Bain, a 6’4”, 299-pound sophomore from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, played in 10 games for the Tigers last season and recorded six tackles.

As a converted tackle, Bain was supposed to get significant time and contend for a starting spot at defensive end this season.

Bain is now the third member of the defensive line to suddenly depart the program this offseason, as defensive tackles Trey Lealaimatafao (who was dismissed) and Travonte Valentine (who transferred a couple of weeks ago) have since left LSU prematurely, too. This also comes after Danielle Hunter and Jermauria Rasco (both starters at end for LSU last season) used up their eligibility and are now pursuing pro careers. So, as you can see, depth on the line could be issue for Les Miles and the Tigers this season.

It wasn’t all bad news for the Tigers, as defensive tackle Mickey Johnson recently decided not to transfer from the program as originally thought.
