Despite turmoil hanging over the program at the moment, Rick Pitino and the Cardinals nevertheless picked up a nice commitment Tuesday when class of 2016 three-star guard Frankie Hughes made a pledge to play for Louisville.

Mike Hughes of Inside The Ville had this scouting report:
“Frankie shoots it really well, possesses great athleticism, is a very good perimeter defender and handles the ball well,” said Corey Tucker, Hughes’ AAU coach (per Inside The Ville). “He’s a two because of the way he shoots the ball, coming off of screens and things of that nature.”
Hughes, a 6’3”, 170-pound shooting guard from Cleveland, Ohio (Garfield Heights), is rated as a three-star recruit according to 247 Sports. The site ranks Hughes as the No. 193 prospect in the 2016 class and the 33rd best shooting guard in the country.
He chose the Cardinals over interest from Wisconsin, St. Joseph’s and Minnesota among others. Hughes is the second member of Pitino’s 2016 recruiting class, as he’ll join five-star small forward V.J. King in the class.
