Final stats:

Villanova shoots .423 from the field, .304 from three-point range and .706 from the foul line. Josh Hart has great game off bench and leads Wildcats with 18 points. Ochefu adds 15 points with team-high 13 rebounds. Darrun Hilliard chips in 12 points.

Providence shoots .350 from the field, .333 from three-point range and .706 from the charity stripe. Dunn was fabulous all night and led the Friars with 22 points, as well as dishing out nine assists and hauling down seven rebounds. Ben Bentil added a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, Providence outrebounded Villanova 42-30.

Villanova will now await winner of Xavier/Georgetown in Big East final tomorrow night. Providence will now wait til Selection Sunday to see who they face in the NCAA Tournament.

Wow! What a thrilling finish! Arcidiacono’s drives to the hoop and gets fouled with 3.1 seconds and nails both free throws to ensure Villanova’s 63-61 win over Providence. Henton’s heave from long range comes up just short. Again, just an absolute thriller and what defines the Big East.

And then Villaonva turns ball over and Dunn connects on layup to tie the game!!! Are you watching this!!! You better. Nova ball after timeout and 12.4 seconds to go in attempt to win game!

What a game!!! Dunn goes coast to coast for tough layup and cuts Wildcats’ lead to two. Villanova up 61-59 with 16.5 seconds to go.

Arcidiacono’s drive to the lane is thwarted and refs now ruling who has possession. It is PC’s ball. Nova is up 61-57 with 22. 3 seconds to go.

Hilliard with huge jumper to push Wildcats ahead 61-56. Then he draws his fifth foul and Henton goes to line for two FT’s.

It’s loud as a mofo at the Garden. The intensity andpressure has ratcheted up now. Cooley calls timeout with the Friars down 56-53 with 2:28 to go. This is what Big East basketball is all about!

Henton is definitely pressing tonight.

And we have our final media timeout with Villanova up over Providence 56-52 with 3:59 to go. Both teams still shooting less than 45 percent, but both teams are definitely getting after it defensively. Whoever defends and rebounds will win this heated affair.

After timeout Jalen Lindsey responds with crucial three!

Ed Cooley calls timeout after Ochefu and Hart score baskets down low put Villanova up 56-49 with 5:19 to go.

Villanova up 50-46 over Providence with 7:55 to go. Kris Dunn with a jaw-dropping move to hoop. Such a great player.  A good finish is in store. Dunn with 17 point now. Ben Bentil is also playing real well, with Henton (2-6 from field) struggling)

Jalen Lindsey with huge three to bring the Friars with five. 47-42 Wildcats with 10:14 and Jay Wright wants a timeout.

11:46 to go, Friars trying to stick around. Villanova up 47-39 over Providence. Josh Hart has 13 points off the bench. Meanwhile Dunn is looking great and leads the Friars with 15 points. Friars ball coming out of the break.



With 15:29 to go, Villanova is up 41-33. They answer PC’s five-point run with a five-point run of their own. Daniel Ochefu with big jam that makes crowd erupt.

The Friars look much crisper after timeout. They go on to score five straight points.

Ryan Arcidiacono start’s off second half with a three-pointer and immediately Ed Cooley wants a timeout. 36-28, Villanova 36, Providence 28 with 19:36 to go.

At the half: Villanova 33, Providence 28. PC ends half on 7-2 run to draw within five points. Nova shooting .444 percent from the field, .286 from three-point range (4-14) and 5-8 from the fee throw line. Hilliard and Hart with 10 points apiece. Providence is shooting .357 percent from field, .400 from three-point territory (4-10) and 4-5 from the foul line.  Dunn leads Friars with 11 points.

Here we go again! Villanova is heating up!!! Josh Hart with two threes and Phil Booth with another and Villanova leads 31-20 with 3:50 to go.

With 7:29 to go in first half, Villanova leads 20-15 and has scored the last four points inside. Ochefu will be going to line for and-1 free throw after the break. Hilliard is on fire today for the Wildcats and leads with 10 points. Dunn and Henton, as usual, doing the heavy lifting with 11 of PC’s 15 points.

Like in their quarterfinal game against Marquette, the Wildcats are playing with a lot of intensity and passion. Definitely not resting on their laurels. They WANT this Big East Tournament title and a subsequent No.1 seed.

Villanova goes on 6-0 run, leads 13-5 with 11:52 to go. Josh Hart with emphatic slam for last two points!

Villanova jumps out to 7-5 lead with 15:23 to go in first half. Villanova out-hustling the Friars so far.
