Live Big East Tourney Coverage: Marquette vs Villanova

Final Score Villanova 84, Marquette 49. Villanova was not going to be denied today and could not miss from three. Marquette could not handle the onslaught and were totally ambushed. Villanova made an astounding 17 of their three-point attempts. Villanova will now await the winner of the No.4 Providence/No.5 St. John’s game tomorrow night.

The walk-ons are now in the game.

Well, it’s officially a rout. There was no rust in Nova’s game today, as they are on ABSOLUTE FIRE from the three-point range.  The Wildcats are now an unconscionable 16-26 from three-point range and lead the Golden Eagles, 78-46.

Nova flexing their muscles again, lead 62-41 with 7:33 to go. Wildcats just too hot, hungry and disciplined. What is underrated about them is how they swarm on defense. They definitely have the look of a team that wants a No. 1 seed.

Marquette trying to hang around, down 53-37 with 11:53 to go. Steve Wojciechowski at least has his Golden Eagles playing hard til the bitter end. Much credit to him and the team’s resolve.

Back-to-Back three pointers by Matt Carlino and JaJuan Johnson bring the Golden Eagles within 17, 50-33. Jay Wright calls timeout.

After first media timeout in second half, Villanova leads Marquette 46-25 and the Wildcats are still firing on all cylinders.

At the half, Villanova leads Marquette 39-21. SCORCHING three-point shooting from the Wildcats remains the story of the day. VIllanova is an absurd 10-16 from three-point range! Yes, that is not a typo!

Villanova has answered the bell and they are hungry and are feeding on some threes. Wildcats are taking charge of this game and now lead 35-16 with 5:08 to go in first half. Steve Wojciechowski calls timeout. Villanova is shooing 55 percent from the floor and a remarkable 69 percent from three.

It’s raining threes at the Garden! Wildcats shooting a blistering 67 percent from three-point range and respond to Marquette run with 11-0 run of their own to take momentum away from the Golden Eagles. 29-16 Nova leads with just about eight minutes left,

Marquette goes on spirited 8-0 run to cut deficit to 18-16. Steve Wojciechowski must a lit a fire under his club, as Nova’s Jay Wright calls timeout,

After first timeout, Villanova leads Marquette 18-8. Villanova establishing tempo early, getting the shots (including many three pointers) they want. Wildcats also attacking the glass well and making Marquette work for their shots. Daniel Ochefu came to play. Darrun Hilliard with six points early.
