Kentucky dismissed guard Chrishae Rowe from the women’s basketball program for unspecified reasons on Thursday. Rowe transferred into the Wildcats’ program from Oregon in January. She won the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in the 2013-14 season.
Kentucky women’s basketball coach Matthew Mitchell and Kentucky released a statement confirming the news on Thursday. Mitchell did say that she dismissed Rowe for failing to uphold to the program’s standards.
“We wish Chrishae well in her future endeavors and we hope she can find success in her life,” Mitchell said in a statement (h/t ESPN via the AP)
Rowe, a 5’10” sophomore guard from Riverside, California, also earned all-conference honors after averaging 21.6 points per game for the Ducks. Her 690 points set a school freshman record and were just three shy of Alison Lang’s season mark.
She was set to be eligible after the first semester.
