ESPN Is Not The Big 12’s Valentine

No. 14 Iowa State ran away from No. 21 West Virginia at home for a 79-59 win on Saturday. ESPN broke Big 12 hearts across the country, though, by cutting away from the game for a live look in at the Wake Forest vs. Virginia game as the Deacs tried to knock off the Cavaliers on the final possession. Our Fan Tweet of the Night by Patrick captured the not-so-sweet reaction by the conference’s fan base:

Though the Demon Deacon in me was ecstatic to catch a glimpse of the uneventful finish(Our sub-.500 selves were on national TV!), it was odd to see the Worldwide Leader cut away from the top-25 Big 12 matchup so quickly. More entertaining, though, was that Patrick’s witty quip was one of hundreds of Big 12 fan tweets breaking up with ESPN over the 30-second look in. It was a shockingly enormous outpouring of distain across the Twitter-verse.

Hats off, Patrick, for creating a new state and leading the Big 12 revolt in the process. For the love of ACC football, though, please don’t let the….Seminole…work of another fanbase lead to #Big12Twitter.
