LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins plans to refuse any NFL contract and enter to 2016 draft unless he is picked in the second or third round on Friday, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.
The NFL rejected a request by Collins’ agent on Thursday to remove the blocker from the draft in favor of the supplemental draft. However, the CBA states that any player who does not sign with the team that drafts him is eligible to be selected by any team in the following draft.
Collins is schedule to meet with police in Baton Rouge in connection to the murder of a 29-year old pregnant woman, Brittany Mills. He is not a suspect, but police are inquiring to find out more about his relationship with the victim.
Collins was widely considered to be a first-round prospect until his involvement with the investigation became known.
