Mike London and the Cavaliers picked up a nice commitment Tuesday when class of 2017 three-star tight end John Kirven made an early pledge to play for Virginia.
Kirven made his announcement on Twitter, while thanking those who helped him as the player he is today and for all the coaches that recruited him.
After receiving an offer early on, Kirven liked Virginia from the get go. After all his brother, Caid Kirven, plays for the basketball program. So there is a familiarity with the school.
Kirven, a 6’6”, 240-pound tight end from Woodberry Forest, Virginia, is currently rated as a three-star recruit in the 2017 class according to 247 Sports. The site ranks Kirven as the No. 707 recruit in the class and the 31st best tight end. 247 Sports also has him as the 23rd best player in the state of Virginia for that class.
He chose the Cavaliers over interest from Clemson, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest among others. Kirven is London’s first commitment of the 2017 class.
