The future is looking extremely bright for the Ole Miss Rebels. Earlier today, Hugh Freeze and company received a verbal commitment from 5-Star standout quarterback Shea Patterson. Ben Garrett of Scout.com broke the news on Twitter:

Patterson, out of Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, LA, could very well be the best quarterback in the class of 2016. He is currently rated by 247Sports as the 17th best overall recruit in the class of 2016.
Patterson had originally committed to play for Rich Rodriguez at the University of Arizona way back in 2012 but decommitted last summer.
With the void left by graduating senior Bo Wallace, Patterson will likely be the starter from day 1 when he arrives in Oxford in 2016. He is the highest-rated quarterback the Rebels have secured since Eli Manning.
Shea Patterson’s only real “weakness” is his size. At 6’2” and 195 pounds, Patterson doesn’t have ideal quarterback size. Every facet of his game, however, is flawless. He has excellent vision, excellent awareness in and out of the pocket, and he already possesses pro-ready arm strength and accuracy.
Patterson had scholarship offers from everyone who’s anyone, including every team in the SEC West except Mississippi State.
