The Villanova Wildcats got off to a great head start to their 2016 season this morning. 5-Star junior big man Omari Spellman, out of The MacDuffie School in Ohio, announced his intent to play for Jay Wright at Villanova earlier today via Twitter:

Spellman, who visited Villanova recently with his mother, decided to announce his decision today to honor his mother on her birthday.
Spellman is a huge commitment for the Wildcats. A 5-Star, top 20 prospect according to ESPN, Spellman is already extremely polished for his age. He has decent height for a center (6’9”) but his size (272 lbs) is what makes him stand out. He has soft hands down low and his post moves continue to improve. He also has a fantastic inside-out game with range out to 23 feet. His versatility will be very useful in pick-and-roll and pick-and-pop situations with elite 5-Star 2015 All-American point guard commit Jalen Brunson (assuming Brunson stays for his sophomore year).
Spellman chose Villanova over a wide variety of schools, including Kentucky, Arizona, UCONN, Indiana, Ohio State, West Virginia, and Cincinnati.
