The Boston College Eagles will be without one of the key members of their coaching staff on Saturday when the school takes on the North Carolina State Wolfpack. Defensive coordinator Jim Reid will not be in attendance as the Eagles head to Raleigh short-staffed for the afternoon ACC tilt.
Reid did not even make the trip with the rest of the Boston College players and coaching staff. The defensive-minded coach stayed behind due to a personal matter that will force the team to shuffle a bit regarding coaching a game in which Boston College needs to win on the road in order to get back to .500 after a loss to the Syracuse Orange at home last Saturday.
Reid’s absence has been reported as a medical issue by Brett McMurphy of ESPN. McMurphy also reported that Paul Pasqualoni will replace Reid as defensive coordinator on Saturday against the Wolfpack. The former Miami Dolphins’ defensive coordinator and NFL defensive line coach has now been called into action as the emergency replacement to wear the headset in Reid’s place.
With head coach Steve Addazio coming from an offensive background, Boston College will rely heavily on Pasqualoni and the rest of the defensive coaches on staff to get through the absence of their defensive coordinator. Without a single win in the ACC this season, the Eagles have now encountered further adversity as the school looks to get their first victory in conference play on the road without their regular defensive coordinator on the sideline.
