Bo Ryan to be Inducted Into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame

The state of Wisconsin has a proud sports history, and the Wisconsin Badgers have been a big part of that at the collegiate level.

On a year-in, year-out basis, the Badgers boast one of the toughest teams in the Big Ten and nationally on both the football field and basketball court. And while the football program has seen some turnover at the top as of late (while still remaining strong, mind you), the basketball program has been the picture of consistency.

That’s much in thanks to head coach Bo Ryan, who will be inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, according to reports. Ryan will be a part of the class of 2016 along with Green Bay Packers great Donald Driver.

Now of course, the big news surrounding Ryan this off season has been the status of his retirement. In June, he came out with a statement saying that he’s considered retirement, and is hoping to coach one more season for Wisconsin and then hand the reigns off to assistant coach Greg Gard.

Of course a few months later now, his decision to leave after this season is potentially up in the air. It could happen, or he could change his mind. Why does this always happen in Wisconsin? (See: Favre, Brett)

No matter what Ryan decides, though, the fact of the matter is the’s extremely deserving of this honor.

He’s coached at Wisconsin for 14 seasons and is heading into his 15th. Ryan has notched a 357-125 record while coaching the Badgers, which equates to a very impressive .741 win-loss percentage.

Last season, Ryan led the Badgers to the finals of the NCAA tournament, where they lost to Duke 68-63.
