Scary scenes have unfolded in the first quarter of Baylor-Texas with a Bears’ player stretchered off of the field. The injury silenced the crowd in Austin with players on both teams taking a knee for Baylor cornerback Grassland Arnold as he was initially motionless on the field.

Arnold was injured in the opening frame and was stretchered off of the field in an emergency situation. Coaches, players and fans alike all expressed their concern for the player as he was attended to on the field after he suffered the injury on kickoff coverage.

The freshman gave the fans a thumbs up motion as he left the field to signal that he has movement in his extremities. The movement from the cornerback is a good sign that the worst hasn’t happened to the Baylor defender and that he has hopefully avoided a life changing injury.

Arnold is a freshman, who was a two-sport star in Texas in both basketball and football before he headed to Baylor to play cornerback for the Bears. The former top 100 recruit has four tackles and one pass defensed on his stat sheet in his freshman season.

With a bright future as one of the Bears’ top recruits in their class of 2016, the hope is that Arnold’s injury is not career threatening after the scary scene on the field against Texas. With movement in his extremities, there has been a good sign that the cornerback has just suffered a serious injury that he will be able to recover from after team doctors assess the situation in the days to come.
