Adoree’ Jackson becomes USC’s all-time kickoff return leader

Adoree' Jackson

The USC Trojans racked up 451 offensive yards and scored four touchdowns in the first half against California on Thursday night, but that wasn’t even the most impressive accomplishment in the first two quarters.

With 22 kickoff return yards on his only return of the first half, junior Adoree’ Jackson became USC’s all-time leader in kickoff return yardage with 1,745 yards. The yardage moved Jackson passed Curtis Conway, who had 1,723 kickoff return yards in his three seasons with the Trojans.

Jackson has been very consistent during his first three years of college football. He recorded 690 kickoff return yards as a freshman and then 690 as a sophomore. However, that is a bit misleading since he had seven additional returns in 2015; his average was more than six yards better when he was a freshman. He also returned two kicks for touchdowns in his first college season.

But he is again on pace to post between 650 and 700 kickoff return yards this year depending on how many games USC ends up playing in 2016. Entering play on Thursday, his kickoff return average is also the best of his career at 31.7 yards per return.

Additionally, Jackson has 37 punt returns in his USC career. As a sophomore, he averaged 10.5 yards per punt return and scored two touchdowns. This season, he is earning 15.5 yards per punt return and has another score.

In his college career, the junior has six kickoff and punt returns for touchdowns combined. That’s more scores than he has accumulated lined up as a receiver (five). Jackson also returned an interception for a touchdown last year.
