ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Cole Kmet, 4-star tight end from St. Viator High School, is one of the top 2017 recruits at his position, and he recently committed to Notre Dame.
The Fighting Irish undoubtedly landed a big recruit—especially from a national perspectiv—as Kmet is ranked as the No. 6 tight end in his class, per the industry generated 247Sports Composite rankings. According to the 247Sports only rankings, Kmet is the No. 4 tight end in the 2017 class, so either way you look at it he’s a notable commitment for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame’s 2017 class now features four commitments, as Kmet joins fellow 4-star tight end Brock Wright, 4-star offensive tackle Joshua Lugg and 3-star offensive tackle Dillan Gibbons. Notably, Kmet committed to the Irish over another top choice in Ohio State. He also features offers from Michigan State, Michigan, Baylor, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin among others.
Kmet has great size for a rising-senior tight end at 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, and he runs a 4.65 40 to go along with that.
