FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Anthony Julmisse is a 2016 athlete recruit who just recently committed to Colorado, and according to quotes obtained by Today’s U in an interview—he seems happy with the decision.
“I felt comfortable there and I figured that if I had to spend nearly four years at a university, I better be comfortable,” Julmisse said when asked what made him decide to commit to the Buffaloes.
Julmisse is 6-foot-1, 186 pounds and Colorado landed his commitment over a number of other major programs. That list included Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Vanderbilt, Syracuse and West Virginia among others. He’s ranked as a running back, according to 247Sports, and is considered to be the No. 79 running back in the 2016 class, per the industry generated 247Sports Composite. Rivals has him more realistically classified, though, listing him as a 3-star athlete.
Julmisse does play running back, but schools have also looked at him as a defensive back—Iowa being an example—and Colorado will be bringing him on as a slot receiver.
When you watch his HUDL highlights it’s easy to see that fit as well. Julmisse has open field speed to burn, long strides, good vision (thanks to his time at running back) and the ability to go up and get the football. Throw in the fact that he can be a dynamic kick or punt returner for Colorado, and it looks like the Buffaloes have a great commitment on their hands.
For what it’s worth, Julmisse can see himself fitting into Colorado’s offense and being used in the same way the team uses sophomore wide receiver Donovan Lee. Through fives games this season, Lee has two receptions compared to 12 carries. Those 12 carries have netted him 123 yards and a touchdown; which came with him out of the backfield as a true running back. Colorado obviously has faith in Lee to play a versatile role in the offense, and it’s easy to see Julmisse doing the same.
Though the 2016 recruit will be a far way from home, the distance between Florida and his future school doesn’t seem to be an issue. “I’m 100-percent cool with it,” Julmisse said regarding the far proximity from home.
When all is said and done for Julmisse it sounds like his decision came down to finding a good fit with the Buffaloes; and it seems like he has.
Not surprisingly, the 3-star agreed with that statement.
