Florida A&M transfer Malcolm Bernard has found a new home with Xavier, as Bernard told ESPN’s Jeff Borzello on Monday that will be playing basketball with the Big East power. Bernard is a graduate transfer, so he will be eligible to play right away for the Musketeers.

At least that’s where we think he’s headed.
If you recall, after deciding to transfer from Florida A&M in March, Bernard announced on Twitter in April that he was going to transfer to Richmond. However, for whatever reasons, that did not work out.
In any event, from all indications, Bernard is set to call Cincinnati his new home.
Bernard talked about his decision to move on a few months ago with Jordan Culver of the Tallahassee Democrat. More from Culver:
“I just wanted another opportunity,” Bernard said. “An opportunity to do something different. I believe to do that, I have to separate myself from FAMU. You have to do what’s necessary, especially when you’re trying to reach other goals.”
Bernard said he’s “weighing his options” in regards to where he’ll transfer, but the decision to leave “wasn’t easy.” He said was granted his release Monday afternoon.
Bernard, a 6’5”, 195-pound versatile forward from Middleburg, Florida is coming off a 2015-16 season in which he averaged 14.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game, which were all team-highs for the Rattlers.
Bernard is the second member from a MEAC school to transfer to Xavier in the last two years, as this season Norfolk State transfer RaShid Gaston is eligible to play for Chris Mack and the Musketeers, too.
