The 6-foot-3 White is from Greenfield High School in North Carolina, so his college choice means that he’ll remain close to home.
“They have a great family atmosphere and it is close to my family.” White said. “My parents really loved Coach [Roy] Williams after talking to him multiple times. We sat and talked. Then, I did some thinking on my own and I decided it was the best place for me.
“I’m excited to play in the Dean Dome, for a great coaching staff in a great atmosphere with great teammates.”
White is ranked No. 21 in the ESPN 60 for the 2018 class and is ranked as the No. 5 point guard. Some recruiting services consider him a combo guard.
With bitter rival Duke landing one of the nation’s top recruiting classes in 2016, North Carolina coach Roy Williams is working hard on being No. 1 with the Class of 2018. White gives the Tar Heels two top-30 commitments according to the ESPN rankings. Four-star guard Rechon Black, ranked No. 26, has verbally committed to North Carolina.
