This follows the commitment of 4-star center Malik Williams opting for the Cardinals two weeks ago. Despite controversy surrounding Louisville amid the sex scandal that has rocked the school, Pitino continues to get the job done on the recruiting trail.
Brian Snow of Scout.com had nice things to say about Perry when scouting the guard. More from Scout.com:
“Darius is a very athletic guard who is one of the best on ball defenders in the country,” Scout national analyst Brian Snow said. “He can be a streaky shooter who is capable of putting up big numbers on the offensive end when he is on top of his game.”
Perry, a 6’2”, 170-pound point guard from Marietta, Georgia (Wheeler High School) is rated as a 4-star recruit according to 247Sports. The site ranks him as the No. 65 overall prospect in the 2017 class and the 14th-best point guard in the country. 247Sports also regards Perry as the eighth-best basketball player in the state of Georgia.
He chose the Cardinals over the hometown favorite Georgia after recently visiting both schools. Perry also had offers from Alabama, Florida State, Iowa State, Memphis, Miami, Minnesota and Virginia Tech. He was also receiving interest from Auburn, Maryland and Texas A&M
With the addition of Perry to go along with Williams, 247Sports has now vaulted Pitino’s 2017 class up the rankings, as the Cardinals have the 11th-best class in the country at the moment.
