Hitchcock (Texas) High School 2017 cornerback Chris Wilson’s talent has been widely known among college coaches for some time now, but just recently the offers started to roll in.
“Since my freshman season until now I’ve been to just about every camp there is, but my grades weren’t right, so that’s why they couldn’t offer me at the time,” Wilson told Today’s U. “My grades just got right so now they’re starting to hit me up major, big time.”

Since this spring, the 247Sports 84 overall 3-star has added offers from UCLA, Texas A&M, Texas Southern and Stephen F. Austin. Several other schools are showing heavy interest and more offers are sure to follow soon.
“I have a lot of teams interested,” Wilson said. “Texas, TCU, Arizona, Baylor, Texas Tech, SMU, Iowa State and a lot more.”
At this point, the 6-foot, 186-pound cornerback has a very early top two.
“UCLA is number one right now,” Wilson told Today’s U. “I like the school, I just like UCLA. I like the program and what they do.
“Texas A&M is second, just being in Texas alone and it’s right down the street.”
Coaches believe Wilson can become a shut-down corner at the next level as he possess all the tools to be a complete, well-rounded player.
“They said I’m big, long and physical,” Wilson said. “I can move around the ball. They like my hitting, my hips are good, my footwork is good, the same things. Everything is good they say, playing big on the field, I’m physical, I’m loud.”
There’s still a window of time for other teams to show interest and get into the mix for Wilson, but at this point, the 3-star has a good idea of the schools he wants to take visits to.
“My first visit I want to take is UCLA,” Wilson said. “Then TCU, Texas, Arizona and Baylor. That’s what I’m thinking.”
It’s possible that some new offers could shake things up.

“My GPA was low coming into my junior year, so my grades were not right, but I’ve been getting my grades right, so more will start popping in like they have been and like they are right now,” Wilson said.
Although his stock is on the rise and his recruitment appears ready to blow up, an early decision isn’t out of the question for the 3-star.
“I’m going to commit before the season starts and whoever just keeps showing me love and wants to offer me,” Wilson said. “I know a lot more are going to come now that a big offer came, a lot more schools are going to join. I’m going to see what all my options are, pick a top five, then I will talk to my parents first before I make any decision.”
Wilson’s decision won’t be based around any specific factors.
“I’d say I just want the school to be good for me, just to teach me and make me grow into the man I want to be, just simple stuff,” Wilson.
