Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei outside linebacker Fa’avae Fa’avae holds well over a dozen FBS offers and it appears more will be on their way this fall. Right now, a handful of schools are making the 247Sports 84 overall three-star feel like a priority.
“I’ve been in contact with Michigan, Nebraska and USC,” Fa’avae told Today’s U. “Washington State and Colorado are recruiting me the hardest right now and they want me to commit as soon as possible.”
Fa’avae reciprocates the interest in both Pac-12 programs, which have done a great job making him feel like an important piece to their respective 2017 classes.

“I like them both and what they have to offer,” Fa’avae said. “They both say I can come in as a true freshman, start and play and make an impact in the Pac-12, so it’s going to be a close decision.”
The Wolverines, the Cornhuskers and the Trojans have yet to offer the 6-foot-1, 210-pounder, but that could change in about a month.
“Nebraska said they could offer pretty soon, but they want to see me play my first game and see how I do my senior year,” Fa’avae said.
In addition to Colorado and Washington State, two other Power 5 schools are also recruiting the three-star pretty hard and have caught his attention.

“I got Arizona State and Louisville as well, maybe three times a week I’m in touch with them, but Wazzu and Colorado is literally every day,” Fa’avae said.
So far, Arizona State remains the only place Fa’avae has visited, but he hopes to change that before his senior year kicks off.
“My only unofficial was to Arizona State, but I’m trying to get up to Washington State as soon as possible,” Fa’avae said. “I’m going out to Hawaii for a wedding and I’m going to take an unofficial August 2nd or 3rd.”
While Fa’avae is interested in Hawaii, it doesn’t appear they are a serious contender at this point.
“I think I want to play Pac-12 or ACC,” Fa’avae said.
It’s not a matter of ‘if,’ but ‘when’ for Colorado as the Buffaloes are also in line to receive a visit from the three-star.
“I’m trying to get out to Colorado ASAP,” Fa’avae said. “I know they had a barbecue get together this past weekend and I want to get up there soon, hopefully before the season starts, but they’re for sure an official visit.”
There’s still time for things to change, but Fa’avae already has a strong idea of where he will take his other four officials in the fall.
“Arizona State, Louisville, Washington State, Colorado and my fifth one, I want to take an official to Nebraska,” Fa’avae said.
Fa’avae hopes to have his commitment made November or December, he said.
“I want to play my senior year,” Fa’avae said. “Before, I was skeptical and wanted to commit before my senior year, but now I want to play my senior year out and take my visits. I don’t want to commit and then decommit so I want to be sure about my decision.”
