2017 four-star power forward Cody Riley is expected to announce his commitment to the UCLA Bruins on Friday afternoon, a source told FanRag Sports and Today’s U.
Riley is considered a top-50 recruit in the 2017 class.
A Chatsworth, California product, Riley was heavily recruited by the USC Trojans, Kansas Jayhawks, Connecticut Huskies, Oklahoma Sooners, and several other prominent Division I programs before deciding to stick close to home and play for the Bruins.
This is a relatively monumental get for UCLA coach Steve Alford. Even prior to Riley’s commitment, the Bruins were bringing in an awe-inspiring 2017 class. According to 247Sports, without even factoring in the forward’s decision, UCLA was ranked as having the sixth best class in the nation for 2017.
Riley joins other top talents such as top-100 prospects Jaylen Hands and Jalen Hill, as well as three-star standout Liangelo Ball.
The Bruins are coming off a 15-17 2015-16 basketball season. Prior to that, UCLA went to the NCAA Tournament for three straight years between the Alford and Ben Howland tenures.
