Pittsburgh earned a big win over Georgia Tech on Saturday while the win was made even sweeter as the school landed a top recruiting target after the game, according to 247Sports. A commitment from one of the top offensive tackles in the nation, Carter Warren, drew headlines for the Panthers in addition to their big win at home to move to 4-2 on the season.
The New Jersey-based offensive tackle will head to Pitt for his collegiate career as the prospect made a verbal commit to the program and announced the decision on Twitter. Warren’s announcement is a big recruiting victory for a Pitt program that has had a haul of 15 commits so far this year.
Warren had a long list of offers from ACC schools as he was a heavily targeted recruit in the conference. Syracuse, North Carolina, Maryland, Louisville and Boston College all made offers. Pat Narduzzi and the Panthers won out in the end to land a player that should be an expected future starter for the program.
247Sports has Warren ranked as the 37th offensive tackle in the nation and the seventh prospect overall in New Jersey. The 315-pounder is considered to be one of the best offensive line prospects on the East Coast, which should make him an instant fit in Pittsburgh if he can make the transition from high school to the NCAA.
Pitt’s recruiting class now looks solid with the addition of Warren as Saturday will serve as a big weekend for the Panthers on the field as well as off of the field on the recruiting trail.
