In what turned out to be an early Big Monday for the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, a source told Today’s U that the program secured the commitments of both James Hawthorne and T.J. Massenburg. This continues Middle Tennessee coach Kermit Davis’ string of recent successes.

Hawthorne is a JUCO forward who will bring a versatile game to the table. Coming out of high school, prior to going the junior college level, he was a nationally under-the-radar prospect.

As for Massenburg, he’s a two-star power forward from Snellville, Georgia. He is currently playing his high school hoops for Shiloh High School.

Both are members of the team’s 2017 recruiting class.

Since taking over the program in 2002, Davis appears to have found his stride as of late, making two NCAA Tournament appearances in four years. The Blue Raiders became national darlings last season, winning 25 games and making it to the second round of the Big Dance.
